Born and raised on the Cape Flats in Cape Town, Tauriq began his career in high-growth ventures such as Groupon and Zando/Jumia Group, becom
ing an executive at age 25. He has since led and held equity in companies across Asia and Europe including Lazada (sold to Alibaba for $4b), Delivery
Hero (listed in Frankfurt at $5b), and Reebonz (listed on NASDAQ).
Tauriq served as CEO of City Ventures Asia, overseeing a $320M portfolio, and was an Operating Partner at Swiss venture capital firm Mountain Partners. After years abroad and the life-altering experience of raising a newborn in a Myanmar warzone he returned to South Africa with a mission.
Today, as CEO of TooMuchWiFi, one of Africa’s fastest-growing networks where he leads a team of over 500, connecting more than 1,500,000 people in townships. Educated at Stellenbosch and the University of Johannesburg, Tauriq believes in building more than counting. He is driven by legacy, family, and a commitment to digital justice.
