Tim Genders graduated from Oxford University in 1989 with a first-class honors degree in Engineering Science. In 1994 he moved to South Africa, to set up an IT consulting business. In 2001 the business merged with Benjamin and Isaac Mophatlane and became the leading Microsoft re-seller, Business Connexion.
Business Connexion and Comparex later merged and Tim left the Company in 2006. In cooperation with Marcus McGlivaery he created the NGO, Africaid. Through football Africaid develop HIV prevention skills in young adolescents.
In 2007 Tim founded Airband in South Africa with Redmond Peel from the UK. Airband has grown to be one of the leading wireless players in KZN region. In November 2015 Airband was sold to HeroTel.
As the Chief Operating Officer of Project Isizwe Tim is now following his passion for free Wi-Fi for Africa.
