SAFNOG’s primary focus is on building and sustaining regional, infrastructure-based communities throughout Southern Africa and the continent. The SAFNOG-5 conference will take place on 27 and 28 August while iWeek 2019’s dedicated ISPA (Internet Service Providers’ Association of SA) day has been set down for Monday, 26 August 2019.
This year’s installment of South Africa’s longest-running annual Internet industry event returns to a familiar iWeek venue, the Indaba Hotel & Conference Centre on William Nicol Drive in Fourways, Johannesburg. Last year, Cape Town’s foreshore hosted iWeek 2018.
Some topics for discussion on the dedicated ISPA day of iWeek 2019 include current regulatory issues, the role of ISPs in the 4th Industrial Revolution, an Internet sector CSIRT and building the next generation of SA’s Internet engineers
As Africa develops her regional infrastructure, it has becomes more important to be able to build and sustain regional communities in support of the same. While not intended as a replacement for existing mailing fora, SAFNOG hopes to be able to provide a discussion forum, and build a community for matters specific to the sub-region. This is why the Southern Africa Network Operators Group was formed.
